Many football card collectors are asking themselves these exact questions right now. I wish I could give you a concrete answer, but unfortunately this blog writer is unable to predict the future!
But what I can tell you is that the Chicago Bears believed in him enough to give up two first round picks (2021 and 2022), as well as two additional picks, in order to select Justin Fields as the 11th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
As a result, I’m not surprised that football card collectors are already investing in Justin Fields rookie cards. The challenge is collectors face a complicated array of cards to choose from. Justin Fields Prizm Draft Picks #121 is likely the most popular Fields rookie card released through July 2021. Experienced football card collectors already know that NFL Prizm is always among the most popular, if not the most popular, football card set released each year. Although Prizm Draft Picks is not at that level of popularity, it remains among the most popular collegiate football card sets.
Prizm is known for including many parallels and Prizm Draft picks includes more than 30 variations of base cards, including:
Justin Fields rookie card collectors will be pleased to learn that this card is relatively affordable. Many sellers list the base card for sale for under $10 and numbered parallels for under $100. In addition, a collector purchased a Justin Fields Prizm Draft Picks Base SGC 10 for $55 in August 2021.
2. Justin Fields Chronicles Draft Picks (Shop on eBay)
Panini released Chronicles Draft Picks in July 2021. Experienced football card collectors know that the Chronicles brand features a mix of sub-brands, often times from past Panini hobby sets that are no longer in circulation. In addition, thee 2021 Chronicles Draft Picks Hobby Box features all rookie players in their college uniforms.
Justin Fields rookie card collectors should also know that Chronicles includes ~15 base card variations, each from a different sub-brand. Here are some of my favorites:
Prices vary by condition and rarity, but collectors will enjoy a wide variety of price points for this set. For example, a collector purchased an ungraded Chronicles Draft Optic Rated Rookie Holo Pink for $57 in August 2021. In comparison, sellers have many base cards listed on eBay for under $10.
3. Justin Fields Mosaic Draft Picks #8 (Shop on eBay)
Panini released the first-ever set of Mosaic Draft Picks in June 2021. This release follows the successful first-ever NFL Mosaic release in 2020. Football card collectors likely already know that 2020 NFL Mosaic was a very popular release and rookie cards from that set remain very collectible today. Due to the popularity of the NFL Mosaic set, we decided to include the Mosaic Draft Picks in the “Most Popular” section of this post.
Justin Fields rookie card collectors should also know there are two base variations of this card in the set. The Justin Fields Mosaic Draft Picks #8 (pictured) features Fields in his Ohio State Buckeyes uniform, while Mosaic Draft Picks #5 features Fields in his Georgia Bulldogs uniform.
Mosaic Draft Picks is slightly more expensive than Prizm Draft. This may be due to the more limited release as an online exclusive. That said, a collector purchased a Justin Fields Mosaic Draft Picks Blue Prizm /75 card for $53 in July 2021. Numbered rookie cards are often more expensive than that.
Budget Justin Fields Rookie Cards
The “Budget” rookie card category includes cards that are both popular and usually less expensive than cards included in the “Most Popular” category. “Budget” category cards provide good entry-level rookie card investment options.
4. Score Justin Fields #302 (Shop on eBay)
The Justin Fields Score #302 is a very popular and affordable Fields rookie card. In fact, Ohio State fans seem to always love the Score brand. I noticed the same trend with Chase Young rookie cards.
For collectors who don’t already know, Score is the first officially NFL licensed set released each year. Panini releases the set ahead of the NFL Draft and as a result, all NFL rookies are featured in their college uniforms. For Justin Fields, this means he is featured in his Ohio State Buckeyes uniform.

Score is included in the budget category because it typically remains one of the most affordable brands throughout the football card collecting season. For example, several sellers list the Lave Score #302 Justin Fields rookie card for under $30, despite the card being numbered /575 (most numbered cards are much more expensive).
5. Legacy Justin Fields #142 (Shop on eBay)
2021 Panini Legacy Hobby Box is an affordable set which features 40 NFL rookies, including Justin Fields. Like most early-season football sets, Legacy features all rookies in their college uniforms. Although the base cards are plentiful and not particularly popular, several chase cards including rookie autographs and Dare to Tear cards drive interest in this set.

Collectors will be pleased to learn that that this base card is very affordable. Several sellers list the card for sale for under $5. However, rare parallels are still valuable. For example, a collector purchased a 2021 Legacy Justin Fields Platinum #1/1 card for $440 in August 2021.
Justin Fields Autograph Cards
The “Autograph” rookie card category includes signed cards from popular and unique football card releases. This category excludes rookie patch auto (RPA) cards because those cards are featured in a subsequent section.
6. Leaf Metal Draft Autograph #PA-JF1 (Shop on eBay)
Metal Draft is a premium hobby set from Leaf which includes only autographs in the set. Leaf released the set in May 2021 and several resellers list the Metal Draft Hobby Box for sale on eBay for ~$145. Before purchasing, collectors should know that Leaf features top prospects in the set, but does not guarantee that those prospects will be drafted in the NFL Draft.
The Justin Fields Leaf Metal Draft autograph is among the most popular in the set. The card features a zoomed-in shot of Justin Fields in his Ohio State Buckeyes uniform as he pulls the ball back to pass. The sticker autograph appears below the image.
The price varies based on condition and rarity, but several collectors purchased variations of this card for ~$125 over the past several months.
7. Prizm Draft Picks Autograph #30 (Shop on eBay)
The Justin Fields Prizm Draft Picks Autograph is among the most popular Justin Fields rookie cards available as of August 2021. The card is from the same set as the #1 card featured on this list (Base Prizm Draft Picks), but features a sticker autograph at the bottom of the card. Unfortunately, Panini included only redemptions for this card, but you can reference a similar card in the Trevor Lawrence rookie card list.
Collectors should also know that Panini included many parallels of this card in the set. For example, collectors may find Green, Hyper, Orange, Silver, Red (/199), Gold (/10), Black Gold (/5), and many other parallels of this card.
The value of this card varies based on rarity. For example, a collector purchased the Black Gold (/5) parallel for $2,025 in June 2021. Comparatively, another collector purchased a non-numbered version for only $203 in July 2021.
Justin Fields Relic Rookie Cards
The “Relic” rookie card category includes relic / jersey / patch cards from popular and unique football card releases. This category excludes rookie patch auto (RPA) cards because those cards are featured in a subsequent section.
8. Justin Fields Chronicles Draft Picks Relic (Shop on eBay)
The Justin Fields Chronicles Drat Picks Relic is the second card from the Chronicles Draft Picks set included in this list. NFL Chronicles is a very popular set each year and I expect Panini will release that set in Spring 2022. Until then, collectors can purchase Chronicles Draft Picks cards which feature all rookies in their college uniforms.

Justin Fields RPA Cards
The “RPA” rookie card category includes rookie patch autograph cards from popular and unique football card releases. This category incudes some of the most highly sought-after and expensive rookie cards.
9. Justin Fields Chronicles Draft Picks RPA (Shop on eBay)
Justin Fields Chronicles Draft RPA is among the most expensive and highly sought-after cards released through August 2021. Chronicles Draft Picks includes multiple Justin Fields RPA cards, but all feature Fields in his Ohio State Buckeyes uniform, a jersey patch, and a sticker autograph.
Several examples of Justin Fields Chronicles Draft Picks RPA include:

The value varies by rarity and desirability of the card and collectors recently purchased variations of this card for $180 to $600. For example, a collector purchased the Justin Fields Chronicles Draft Limited RPA for $182 in August 2021. Another collector purchased the Origins RPA FOTL numbered /99 for $620 in July 2021.
10. Justin Fields Legacy Futures RPA (Shop on eBay)
The Justin Fields Legacy Futures RPA is among the best hits from the 2021 Panini Legacy Hobby Box. Collectors may also be interested to learn that Panini included only 35 rookies in the 2021 Legacy Football set. Fortunately for Justin Fields rookie card collectors, Fields is one of those rookies.
All Futures RPA cards are numbered and the most common is numbered /75. Parallels of the card include Ruby (/50), Sapphire (/25), Diamond (/5), and more.
Justin Fields rookie card collectors recently purchased variations of this card for $200 to $330. For example, a collector purchased a Justin Fields Legacy Dual Patch RPA /25 for $331 in August 2021.
Justin Fields Rare Insert Cards
The “Rare Inserts” rookie card category includes rare and highly sought-after rookie cards. The cards on this list will be among the most expensive rookie cards available, particularly when the card includes a high grade from a reputable grading company.
11. Prizm Draft Picks Color Blast (Shop on eBay)
The Justin Fields Prizm Draft Picks Color Blast is the most rare and expensive card on this list. Panini limits the distribution of this card and includes only 1 color blast parallel in every 10 Prizm Draft Picks cases. As a result, Justin Fields rookie card collectors will find it extremely difficult to find this card in a hobby box (or even in a hobby case!).
Collectors who are interested in this card will need to spend at least several thousand dollars to buy it. For example, a collector purchased an ungraded version of the card for $3,250 (Fixed Price) earlier in 2021. In addition, a few sellers list PSA graded versions of the card for sale on eBay for $8,000+.
2021-22 Justin Fields Rookie Card Preview
Sports card manufacturers have not released many of the most popular Justin Fields rookie cards as of August 2021. As a result, the most popular cards today will not be the same as the most popular cards one year from now.
To help you plan for upcoming releases, we’ve estimated release dates for the most popular 2021-22 Football card sets. Each of these sets will include Justin Fields rookie cards and will feature Fields in his Chicago Bears uniform.
Sets likely released in 2021(Preview)
Donruss Football (2021): Panini will release this set on September 8, 2021. This set includes the popular “Rated Rookie” cards, but uses a lower-end card stock compared to Donruss Optic.
Mosaic Football (2021): Panini may release this set in Fall 2021 (September). Mosaic is like a cousin-brand to Prizm and is popular with football card collectors.
Prizm Football (2021): Panini may release this set in Winter 2021 (December). Prizm is the flagship football card brand. Expect demand to be very high for this product this year.
Immaculate Football (2021): Panini may release this set in Winter 2021 (December). Immaculate is one of several super-premium football card sets released by Panini. RPA cards of highly sought-after rookies from this set will likely be very valuable.
Sets likely released in 2022 (Preview)
Donruss Optic Football (2021): Panini may release this set early in 2022 (February). Donruss Optic is the higher-end variation of Donruss Football (releasing in September 2021).
Select Football (2021): Panini may release this set in Spring 2022 (April). Select Football is only sold in card shops and features a high-end chrome finish, similar to Prizm and Mosaic.
National Treasures Football (2021): Panini may release this set in Spring 2022 (April). National Treasures is a very well-known super-premium football card set.
Flawless Football (2021): Panini may release this set in Spring 2022 (May). Flawless is another super-premium football card set from Panini.
Justin Fields Rookie Card Risk and Upside Analysis

Heading into the 2021-22 NFL season, I classify Justin Fields rookie cards as High Risk with High Upside potential. The Chicago Bears selected Justin Fields as the 11th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft making him the fourth Quarterback selected in the draft. Early reports out of Bears training camp are positive, but many rookie quarterbacks down live up to the hype.
Will Justin Fields be different? Only time will tell!
Why do we believe Justin Fields rookie cards are high risk?
Justin Fields rookie card collectors are buying his cards because they believe he will live up to the hype. I want to believe that too, but the fact remains he has not played a single regular season NFL football game as of August 2021. Until he does, and demonstrates strong performance at the NFL level in the regular season, I will continue to believe Justin Fields rookie cards are a high risk investment.
As a result, I believe Justin Fields rookie cards are High Risk.
Why do we believe Justin Fields rookie cards have high upside potential?
Experienced football card collectors know that Quarterback rookie cards are typically valued significantly more than any other position. In addition, the Chicago Bears drafted Justin Fields with the intention of making him their #1 Quarterback for years to come. If Justin Fields can live up to his potential at the NFL level, I believe his rookie cards have significant upside potential.
For those reasons, I classify Justin Fields rookie cards as having High Upside Potential.
